National Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2019

From September 8 through September 14, St. Louis Community College (STLCC) and organizations across the country expressed gratitude for members of the trucking industry during the 2019 National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.

“Professional truck drivers are in such high demand,” said Rene Dulle, STLCC transportation program manager. “We are proud to train individuals to develop the skills necessary for this promising career path so more people can take advantage of the vast opportunities this industry has to offer.”

There has never been a better time to consider a professional truck driving career as the U.S. faces an unprecedented trucker shortage. According to the American Trucking Associations, America will be short 175,000 drivers by 2026.

STLCC’s professional truck driving training program provides classroom instruction and hands-on experience that prepares students to take their commercial driver’s license (CDL) exam. The College serves as the primary CDL training resource for several companies in the St. Louis area, and students seeking employment often receive assistance from the program to uncover job opportunities with one of STLCC’s many partner organizations.

Over the past week, STLCC has reintroduced articles that showcase several examples of students and organizations who have demonstrated the value of the professional truck driving program and career pathway. For example:

STLCC is grateful for its students, staff, corporate partners and everyone who contributes to this industry and keeps America moving forward!
