Bank of America $20,000 Grant Opens 20 Seats for STLCC Renewable Energy Job Training

The solar installation job training program offered through St. Louis Community College has been awarded a $20,000 grant by Bank of America. “This program reaches residents in the St. Louis Promise Zone,” explains Rene Dulle, Workforce Solutions Group project manager. “It provides opportunity to receive no-cost training for jobs that are increasingly in demand. With this training, individuals from St. Louis Promise Zone are increasingly able to participate in the revitalization of their community.”
STLCC’s solar training program delivers in-depth, applied instruction in the installation of photovoltaic renewable energy technology. Upon program completion, individuals will be qualified to sit for the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Associate Program exam. Average starting salaries for solar installers is $38,000.
Bank of America’s grant will support the training of up to 20 students from February 2019 through May 2019 with interviews and job placement activities following.
Additional information, including a program application, will be published in mid-October at stlcc.edu/accelerated.
