Apply Now for Boeing Pre-Employment Composites Mechanic Training Starting October 10, 2016

This accelerated job training program is offered by the Workforce Solutions Group and the Florissant Valley campus of St. Louis Community College in partnership with Boeing. The 208-hour program prepares individuals for entry-level employment as a composites mechanic in the aerospace industry. Students who successfully complete the training program will have an opportunity to interview with Boeing.
All interested applicants must meet the eligibility requirements including the required scores on specific WorkKeys assessment tests. In order to be selected for the program, and possibly hired by Boeing, students must meet stringent program requirements such as scoring at or above the cut-off on the WorkKeys assessments, maintaining a grade of 75% or higher throughout the program, and earning a certificate of completion for the entire 208 hours of composites mechanics training.

Program Information
Composites Mechanic: The training program provides 208 hours of instruction in aircraft assembly techniques focused on advanced composite fabrication, assembly and repair, accessing computer-based work instructions, and teamwork.
The course consists of two sections, Fabrication and Composite Repair, 2 weeks each. The participants must complete all of the 208 hours of instruction. If at any point, they receive a grade below 75% they are removed from the program.
The Fabrication section will cover Composite vocabulary and basic principles of Composites. The student will complete a variety of projects and be proficient in ply cutting, manual layup, vacuum bagging, curing de-bagging and trimming. Each project has a learning objective. The classroom adheres to a clean room environment and students are required to wear lab coats and a variety of personal protective equipment.
The Repair section will use a variety of existing projects to fabricate a repair on solid laminates and honeycomb structures in real-world scenarios using the actual portable bonding equipment used in a manufacturing facility. Use of air tools to include grinders and sanders to facilitate the repairs will be required. The skills obtained will provide the student with the knowledge necessary to conduct top quality repairs with confidence.
Throughout the course the student will be required to adhere to Quality Principles and Safe Practices.
Upon successful completion of the training, participants receive a completion award for 208 hours of Composites Mechanics Training. Representatives from Boeing will attend a class session and discuss the application and interviewing process. Students individually must then go online and apply for a job with Boeing.
Applicant Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants must be mechanically inclined with a stable work history.
Resumes will be evaluated and qualified applicants meeting the program criteria will be selected for WorkKeys assessment testing.
Individuals will be scheduled for an interview for entrance into the program if they meet the required assessment test scores and resume evaluation criteria.
All potential participants must meet the required score on the WorkKey assessment tests for applied math, locating information, reading for information, and observation.
