Students of the St. Louis Area Green Energy Partnership recently received a special visit from Jay Williams, Director for the Office of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers. Mr. Williams, with Special Assistant Lauren Leonard, toured the partnership’s training sites to hear stories first-hand from dislocated workers who are diligently working to enrich their employability. Mr. Williams took the time to speak with students individually encouraging them to continue enhancing their skills to adapt to the new realities of the labor market.

The partnership is a unique collaboration between the United Auto Workers – Labor Employment and Training Corporation and St. Louis Community College to provide accelerated training programs in emerging green occupations to dislocated and underemployed workers. Four training programs are offered:

  • Energy Technician Fundamentals
  • Environmental Hazardous Materials Technician
  • Green Manufacturing Process Technician
  • Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Technician
